Washington DC [US], January 15: Confirmation hearings for President-elect Donald Trump's picks for his cabinet and other high-ranking administration positions got under way on Tuesday, with defense secretary nominee Pete Hegseth the first to face questioning from U.S. senators.
Several confirmation hearings are scheduled before Trump, a Republican, is sworn in as president on Monday, while others will not be held until after he takes office.
