Ras Al Khaimah [UAE], December 14: H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, attended the Nordic Lights: An Evening of Finnish Music, held under his patronage and organised by the Embassy of the Republic of Finland in the UAE, at the Ras Al Khaimah Cultural Development Centre.
During the event, H.H. Sheikh Saud said that understanding the cultures of different peoples contributes to enhancing civilisational communication, mutual understanding, and respect. "It deepens relationships, fosters a culture of innovation and creativity, and forms an essential part of human and societal development."
H.H. Sheikh Saud hailed the performances of the participating artists, particularly the internationally renowned Finnish musicians - cellist Jussi Makkonen and pianist Nazig Azezian, alongside the Emirates Youth Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Riad Kudsi.
The programme includes the UAE premiere of Nordic Adagio, composed by Tuomas Kantelinen for Makkonen and Azezian, marking their first collaboration with the orchestra.
