She thanked US military medical staff at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center (Germany) and medical staff at Kirchberg Hospital (Luxembourg), according to Reuters on December 15.
Ms. Pelosi (84 years old) was taken by ambulance to Landstuhl after being injured during a working trip with a bipartisan group of US congressmen in Luxembourg on December 13.
The announcement did not provide any details about Pelosi's injuries or how they occurred.
As one of the oldest members of the US House of Representatives, Ms. Pelosi leaves the position of speaker of the House in 2022.
Elected to the California Senate in 1987, Pelosi is a veteran whose tenure spanned seven US presidents.
In 2007, she made history by becoming the first female speaker of the US House of Representatives, a term that lasted until 2011. She returned to the position in 2019 after the Democrats regained control of the House in the 2018 midterm elections.
She was re-elected as a California state representative until 2026 on election day November 5 with 81% of the vote.
News of the former US House Speaker 's injury marks the second time in a week that a senior member of the US Congress has been injured.
